About Me

While who I am may be interesting, it's probably even more interesting to find out why I do what I do.

However, if you are still interested in my background. I'm an author, software engineer and presenter who lives and works in the Bay Area. I live with my wife, daughter and two dogs we adopted.

I've never done anything other than work with computers. I got hooked on them at the age of thirteen when wrote programs in Basic on my friend's TRS-80 and I've never looked back. My interest in writing began when I wrote a manual for Fret Navigator, a guitar program for the Macintosh. About six years ago I started writing for larger technical audiences, starting with articles and then writing books as well as articles. I'm a bit of a 50/50 guy, I'm too geeky to give up writing programs and learning about new technologies, and I'm too gregarious to stop wanting to write and talk about technology.

In my spare time I train for triathlons to keep myself physically fit. I also have a passion for cooking, baking, and woodworking (if those make any sense). I also enjoy video gaming with my wife and daughter who are Mario addicts. I'm also politically active, which is something you can read about on my personal blog; The New Road.

My bio is available in short, medium and long form for those who need it.
